Il castello dei Da Gavignano, assieme ai
castelli di Tizzano e di Musignano, formava un gruppo difensivo
unico. Era protetto e collegato (secondo una leggenda attraverso un
misterioso passaggio sotterraneo) all'avamposto costituito dal
soprastante complesso di Gavignano. Era indicato come torre con
fortezza e in buono stato nel 1583, stando al disegno riportato
sulle Piante di Popoli e Strade (1580-1595), nel quale appariva
anche il perimetro merlato. Adesso putroppo è in parte crollato e
ciò che resta è coperto da edera. Inoltre, per evidenti motivi di
sicurezza, l'area strettamente adiacente è recintata e non vi si
può (ufficialmente) accedere. Ciò che resta comunque è sufficiente
per rendere l'idea di come doveva essere e da un tocco suggestivo a
tutta l'area circostante.
Inoltre, il rudere è collocato ai margini di una radura molto ampia
ed invitante, in uno scenario romantico e pittoresco, fra prati e
boschi di castagni.
La cache può essere ricercata singolarmente (e velocemente)
parcheggiando nei pressi dell'agglomerato di case detto delle
"Tavernuzze", ove è presente una fonte di acqua buonissima. In
alternativa, è possibile unire la ricerca di questa cache a quella
presente in Fontesanta (Geocache "Fontesanta Park - GC2RRQY"),
partendo indifferentemente da una delle due cache. Il mio consiglio
è comunque quello di approffittarne per fare una passeggiata in
tutta tranquillità cercando di carpire tutti i piccoli tesori
disseminati nel territorio circostante, come la fonte di acqua
delle Tavernuzze sopra menzionata (N43°41.840-E011°21.053) o
l'Oratorio di S.Donato a Campignalla, una antichissima chiesa
inserita in un piccolo borghetto di case, corredata di un
bellissimo pozzo in pietra (N43°41.937-E011°20.386).
La strada più diretta per raggiungere la cache consiste
nell'attraversare Grassina e seguire le indicazioni per S.Polo.
Appena attraversato l'abitato di Capannuccia, prendere la strada a
sinistra (per S.Andrea a Morgiano) poi su a destra per Belvedere.
Passerete davanti all'oratorio e al pozzo e poco dopo raggiungerete
Tavernuzze con la sua fonte. Parcheggiate poco più avanti
(N43°41.802-E011°21.204) e prendete il sentiero segnato del CAI che
porta in Fontesanta.

The Da Gavignano's castle, together with the
castles of Tizzano and Musignano formed an unique defensive team.
It was protected and connected (according to legend through a
mysterious underground passage) to the above complex outpost
Gavignano. It was indicated as a tower with a fortress and in good
condition in 1583, according to the design shown on the Plants of
People and Roads (1580-1595), which also appeared on with perimeter
tower. Now unfortunately is partly collapsed and what remains is
covered with ivy. In addition, for obvious security reasons, the
closely adiacent area is fenced and there you can't access
(officially). What remains is enough to make the idea of it was and
a charming touch to the surrounding area. Additionally, the ruins
are located at the very edge of a clearing broad and inviting, in a
Romantic and picturesque scenario, through fields and woods of
chestnut trees. The cache can be searched independently (and fast)
parked near the agglomeration of houses called the "Tavernuzze"
where there is a very good source of water. Alternatively, you can
join the search for this cache to the one in Fontesanta (Geocache
"Fontesanta Park -
GC2RRQY"), starting either from one of the two caches. My
advice is still to take advantage to take a walk quietly trying to
steal all the little treasures scattered throughout the surrounding
area, as the water source of Tavernuzze above mentioned
(N43°41.840-E011°21.053) or the oratory of San Donato a
Campignalla, an ancient church set in a small hamlet of houses,
with a beautiful stone well (N43°41.937-E011°20.386). The most
direct route to reach the cache is to cross Grassina and follow
signs to San Polo. Just through the village of Capannuccia, take
the road on the left (in direction of Sant'Andrea a Morgiano) then
right to Belvedere. You will pass the oratory and the well and soon
will reach Tavernuzze with its source. Park a little further
(N43°41.802-E011°21.204) and take the marked path by CAI that leads
