As the name suggests there hasn't always been a bridge at
Stonyford. The bridge here was constructed by the public in 1787 at
a cost of £76, the money being raised by public subscription. The
need for the bridge had became obvious after 2 brothers were killed
trying to cross the ford on one horse.
There is still a ford (track starts across the road from the
house) occasionally used by vehicles which are too large for the
bridge.
There is a spot to park at the opposite end of the bridge to the
house.
It's worth walking on to the bridge to take photos both up and
downstream.
