High Above Pactola Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

momof6furrballs: Going to let this one go. It's a great view, but not many good places to hide a cache that it won't disappear down the hill into the lake after several inches of intense rain. Thanks to everyone over the years that stopped and found it.

Geocache Description:

A quick cache and dash along Highway 385, about a quarter mile south of the Pactola Visitor Center.

Pactola Reservoir is the largest and deepest lake in the Black Hills, with 15 miles of shoreline, 800 acres, and an average depth of 150 feet. Beneath this lake is the old mining town of Pactola, which was originally settled in 1875. Construction of the nearby Dam started in November 1952, and was completed August 1956.

The cache is a camo'd soda preform, hidden near the edge of the overlook. It's log only, so bring your own writing implement. Please replace the cache as found, and be sure it is hidden well.

As always, cache responsibly, CITO if needed, and have fun!
