This cache is one of a set of caches found along the roadside as you take the circular walk (preferable) or drive around the island of Rousay. The island contains some of the richest and best preserved monuments in the North of Scotland, which are free to enter. There are good car parking areas near all the major heritage sites. The Rousay Heritage Centre is well worth a visit giving a good overview of Rousay past and present.
This particular cache location affords great views across Wyre Sound towards Wyre and beyond to Gairsay and the Orkney Mainland. It is also close to the important Victorian Scottish Baronial style mansion of Trumland House designed by the prominent architect David Bryce and finished in 1876. For those interested in the ancient monuments Taversoe Tuick, a rare two storeyed cairn, Blackhammar Cairn and Knowe of Yarso Cairn are all close by and well worth visiting if you have time.
The cache is a 35mm film canister with log and pencil.
