This cache is one of a set of caches found along the roadside as you take the circular walk (preferable) or drive around the island of Rousay. The island contains some of the richest and best preserved monuments in the North of Scotland, which are free to enter. There are good car parking areas near all the major heritage sites. The Rousay Heritage Centre is well worth a visit giving a good overview of Rousay past and present.
This particular cache location gives fine views across Rousay Sound and beyond. In particular, St Magnus Kirk is clearly visible in the centre of the Island and is one of only two remaining examples of the distinctive round towered churches that were built by the Vikings.
The cache is a 35mm film canister with log and pencil.
Please take care parking in the vicinity of this cache. Although the roads are generally very quiet, this is an agricultural area and can be busier with visitors on the Island.
