Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park turned 40 in 2011. The park encompasses plants and animals of the Chihuahuan Desert along a 1.3 mile self-guided loop trail.
Admission to the park is $5.00 per person 13 and older, $3.00 for children 7-12 and free for children 6 and under.
Summer hours: Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, 8AM to 5PM with last entry at 3:30PM. The best time to come in the summer is when the park opens. It's cooler then and the animals are active. Afternoons may be over 100 degrees, not the best time for a hike. Winter hours: Day after Labor Day until Memorial Day weekend, 9AM to 5PM with last entry at 3:30PM.
Placed with official permission. This is one of three caches in the fee area of the park.
