Carreg Arthur Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: Hi There

As the owner has not responded to either my log or my colleague's previous log requesting that they check this cache I am archiving it.

Please note that once the cache has been archived, this can not be undone. This is explained in the Help Center - http://support.groundspeak.com//index.php?pg=kb.page&id=70

You will need to create a new listing, put it back in for review and as long as it meets today's guidelines and no other caches have been published in the area causing a proximity problem, then it will be published.

Regards

Geocache Description:

Located on the lower slopes of Cefn Du, Carreg Arthur is easily accessible on public footpaths from Ffordd Bryngwyn or Clegyr. The cache is located about 0.6 miles from the nearest public road on a steep section of path. Not accessible to buggies, bikes and wheelchairs.

Carreg Arthur is an 'erratic' boulder left behind when the glaciers receded from the valleys of Snowdonia, long before we were around! Local legend has it that as the great King Arthur passed through this landscape on his journey south, he was irritated by a stone in his shoe. He shook the stone out of the shoe in anger and this is where it landed. From the cache you'll have great views over Ceunant & Llanrug and the Menai Strait and Ynys Mon beyond. The cache is an ice cream box container with logbook and pen (but take a spare just in case!). Why not visit this one on your way up to Cappy's Horde, on the summit of Cefn Du?
Note in response to log entries: There are clear paths leading to this cache! There is a public footpath from Ffordd Bryngwyn over the lower slopes of Cefn Du to Clegyr, which passes beneath the rock. A small path leads directly up to Carreg Arthur from this right of way. Be prepared for bracken and brambles in summer - but you'll be rewarded with a great view.
