Geocache Description:

Manuels River Natural Heritage Society will hold a geocaching event on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. There will be eight new caches released at the event. Someone will be on hand to explain geocaching to beginners. Refreshments will be provided and prizes will be drawn for during the event.

Manuels River Linear Park is located in the Town of Conception Bay South, just a short drive from St. John’s. It’s one of the oldest river systems in North America, approximately 14km long, and runs from Thomas Pond to Conception Bay. The park's trail system meanders for over 5 km along one of the most picturesque river valleys in eastern Newfoundland. The main entrance is located adjacent to the Chalet on Route 60, just West of Manuels River Bridge.

This is a family event, so grab your GPS and enjoy a great day of caching in the Town of Conception Bay South.

This will also be an unofficial CITO event.

Cache In Trash Out (CITO) is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

Geocachers around the world celebrate International Cache In Trash Out weekend annually by hosting and participating in Cache In Trash Out Events in their local area. Events might be focused on litter clean-up, removal of invasive species, revegetation efforts or building trails. Together, we make an enormous positive impact. Did we mention that we also have a bit of fun while we're at it?

Your team will be supplied with a garbage bag, so you can clean up any litter while caching the river system.
