fraygirls: Hi All! We stopped by to check on this one again, and found the cache in place. We also found evidence that some other items in the area had possibly been affected by searches and are making the call to archive rather than risk geocachers getting in trouble for...unintended tampering, or whatever the charge could possibly be. Thanks to all who visited the mascot over the years!

Geocache Description:

North Carolina's state motto is "Esse Quam Videri", which translates to "To Be Rather Than To Seem". We've taken the motto for our great state, thrown it into reverse, and created this series: Videri Quam Esse (To Seem Rather Than To Be). That's right...there's another imposter on the loose!

You are looking for a bison tube, concealed to feel at home in its surroundings. This isn't the first time we've hidden a cache in this manner, and it's certainly not the only hide of this type in town. So it should be a pretty easy one. You're welcome, and please replace as found or better!

If you're looking in the right spot, you'll be very close to UNCW's beloved mascot, The Seahawk. We're guessing that "The UNCW Ospreys" just didn't sound as fierce? The sculpture here is very cool - bring a camera to help disguise your search and because you'll probably want a picture of this anyway. Also, it is rumored that driving around this circle three times brings good luck - so if you're having trouble with the cache, try that! You have officially been warned that this is a log only micro, so bring some ink and leave the whiny anti-micro rants at home :)
