Woody
Pipe

The cache is
located not far from the above spot which is the turn-off the Pipe
Track for Woody Ravine. The trail up the ravine is currently closed
for safety reasons (as indicated by the sign board) after a rock
fall destroyed portions of the path in
2009.
This is one of
three caches placed in celebration of my first hike along the
wonderful Pipe Track from Kloof Nek to Slangolie Ravine. The others
are Shady Pipe
GC2Y72T and Kasteelpoort Pipe
GC2Y72M.
For a detailed
description of the Pipe Track use this
link.
To Reach
the Cache:
Approach 1
(from Kloof Nek): If you wish to experience the Pipe Track
from its starting point and visit several other caches along the
way, park @ Kloof Nek near S33 56.546 18
23.703 and locate the Pipe
Track trailhead some 50m NW near the main road junction. Head along
the track passing the Shady Pipe cache, Kasteelpoort Pipe cache and
three other great caches en route - Henzz’s The Easiest Cache
on Table Mountain
GC2XXFN, cobusvanbosch’s Heritage Cache
GC11QAR and Henzz’s Joshua Penny cache
GC2NWMA.
Approach 2
(from Camp’s Bay): This is a much shorter route and
should get you to GZ within 30-40 minutes passing the Kasteelpoort
Pipe cache along the way. Park @ S33 57.772 E18
23.056 off Theresa Avenue
and head up to join the Pipe Track @
S33 58.031 E18
23.254. From here head
right (south) for approximately 1km to reach the
cache.
The cache, a small
cylindrical camo-container is hidden in one of the obvious
locations! ;)
Note: the terrain
rating of 3 refers to the longer Kloof Nek
approach.
