Ericles: Well, the construction didn't just get close to the tree - it went right over top of it. No Christmas Tree, no hiding spot. [B)][V] :bad: Hopefully the building becomes a burger joint... they are the only things doing well these days.

The cache was a small lock-n-lock painted like a Christmas Present and hiding up under the low hanging branches of the blue spruce.

I hid it 3 years ago today in anticipation of the Summer Solstice at Sunrise event that we held at IHOP. At the time I envisioned caches at all of the IHOPs in the area - International House of Caches. IHOC. Get it? Anyway, 3 years and 149 finds later it is time to go. I'll repurpose the container somewhere else eventually. Cache on!

Geocache Description:

An Easy Cache and Dash near the center of Keyport's Shopping District

Location: Welcome to the commercial outskirts of Keyport, NJ. This plaza - with access from Routes 35, 36 and the Garden State Parkway - opened for commercial business in the late 1950s soon after the Parkway was put in. The first restaurant opened in the late 60s. That same building - which is the closest to the cache - is currently unoccupied after going out of business in 2009. The original stores were razed in the early 90s and by 2000 the current configuration was in place including the large grocery store, two eateries and a handful of smaller shops. The plaza is used by Keyport for community events like the annual car-show.

The Hide: A skirt-lifter of sorts, you will be looking for a small Lock-n-Lock container at ground level. The cache's "camo" was planted in the late when this plaza was being redeveloped and "Spruced" up. To avoid muggle attention, the cache is hidden out of direct view of the pancake place.
