Il monte Penna (più precisamente monte Moriglion di Penna) si trova vicino a Santa Maria del Giudice. Dalla sua vetta si può godere di una vista quasi a 360 gradi sulle pianure sottostanti, arrivando a vedere sia Lucca che Pisa e la costa.
Per arrivare al monte, da Via della Chiesa XIX svoltare nella strada vicino al cimitero e parcheggiare al waypoint 1, poco prima delle cave. Qui inizia il sentiero, dietro una grossa pietra segnata in rosso e bianco. Da qui in poi, dopo un breve tratto iniziale, si va tutto in salita fino alla vetta del monte.
Il percorso è ripido, sassoso e scivoloso, quindi ATTENZIONE, usate scarpe adeguate e portatevi da bere perchè sarete quasi sempre sotto il sole. Secondo il nostro GPS il percorso in linea d'aria è di circa 1 km, e ci abbiamo messo un'ora e un quarto andando tranquilli.
Sulla vetta del monte c'è una croce di legno e un'asta con bandiera. Su una roccia è stata recentemente apposta una targa in memoria di Alessio Grandi, un appassionato di montagna morto nel 2010 in un incidente stradale. La cache è un contenitore lock'n'lock nascosto poco distante dalla croce.

Monte Penna (complete name is monte Moriglion di Penna) is located near Santa Maria del Giudice. On its top you can have a view at 360 degrees, and look Lucca, Pisa and the coast.
To reach monte Penna, from Via della Chiesa XIX you must turn on the street near the cemetery and park at waypoint 1, near the caves. Here start the path, behind a big rock marked in red and white. From here, the path is all an ascent to the top of the mountain. The path is steep, stony and slippery, so PAY ATTENTION, use suitable shoes and don't forget some drink because the path is for the more time under the sun. For our GPS the distance is 1 km, we made it in 1.15 hours with a slow walk.
On the top there is a wooden cross and a pole with a flag. On a rock there is a plaque in memory of Alessio Grandi, a passionate of mountain died in 2010 in a car accident. The cache is a lock'n'lock container hidden near the cross.
