Geocache Description:

Salt Creek Bridge is located on Old Highway 99 in rural Seminole County, in Wolfe to be exact. It is at the southernmost end of Old Highway 99, just before it meets New Highway 99. It was built in 1927 after the oil boom brought thousands of people to this area. Its steel trusses span about 80 feet long on each side. I grew up very near here and used to fish here as a child. There used to be a pretty good supply of catfish. When the water was low enough one could walk the river to the east and to the west pretty easily. (They may still be here in deeper pools if you are interested in finding them.)
Back then it was in a lot better shape. The residents of this area have constantly fought for better care of the roads and bridges, to little avail. There are rumors that county workers actually knocked down some of the concrete railing in hopes of getting this and the Little River bridge condemned. It has been closed for a few years now and has been vandalized by bored, small town kids. (Mostly just spray paint. Don’t be scared.) I had heard that they had just recently opened it back up, and it appears that this may be in the works, but for now it is still barricaded. It’s a pretty short walk to the bridge. I do not recommend going below to the bank on this one. We saw several snakes in the water below, but if you are a brave soul, or a snake whisperer, it may be a good one for CITO.
You are looking for a painted black plastic jar. The shells included are ones our daughter picked up on a trip to California a few years ago. Bring something to trade and your own writing stick! Happy caching and blessed be!

Congrats to Red Sky for FTF!!
