Geocache Description:

A nano cache.

This is a nano cache located on the path between Penrhos beach and Penrhos coastal park. Parking is available on the East side of Penrhos beach or at the Coastal Park. The cache is about half a mile walk east from the carpark at Penrhos beach.

The structure at the GZ is the remains of the Penrhos estate’s boathouse. A tragedy occurred at this spot in 1817 when Elfrida, the four year old daughter of Sir John Thomas Stanley, drowned whilst bathing. Her nanny also drowned trying to save the child.
Elfrida’s grave is in St Cybi’s church in Holyhead. There is also a memorial window in the church for two brothers from the Stanley family who died in 1947 whilst tunnelling into the nearby sand dunes at Penrhos beach.

Please bring a pen as there is only a small log in the cache.

The cache is cunningly concealed in plain view. It is just a case of picking it out! Please replace exactly as you found it.

Be careful you do not discard it by mistake.
