This cache is placed in memory of Margaret Shaw (1914 to 2011) after whom this bridge, Maggie’s Bridge, was named. Margaret, aka Groovy Granny, was out walking with her friend Norman and came across the builders constructing the bridge. When she asked what it would be called, the "Lads from Prudhoe" suggested that it be named after her. On 17th October 1983 Margaret returned to open Maggie's Bridge. Margaret came to this place on many occasions to walk the banks of the river and to enjoy the wonderful scenery. On Sunday 12th June 2011 her ashes were scattered on the riverbank nearby by her eldest son, Jim, in the presence of 26 other members of the family.
