Geocache Description:

CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES!!

It's that time of year again! After passing grade ten math back in February I figured it was time to publish this cache.

To find this cache you need to complete this series of Math problems associated with Grade 10 Mathematics. To some this puzzle might take 5 minutes or 5 hours. All of these questions and answers are taken directly out of my grade ten academic math textbook and have been double checked by both myself and a trusted member of my caching team to try to lesson the amount of confusion that arose around last years cache.

To each number in the set of coordinates I have paired up a math problem with it, that you need to solve in order to get the final set of coordinates. The Final coordinates should look like;

N43 AB CDE
W 080 FG HJK

The Problems,

A: On weekends, as part of his exercise routine, Carl goes for a run, partly on paved trails and partly across rough terrain. He runs at 10 km/h on the trails, but his speed is reduced to 5 km/h on the rough terrain. One day, he ran 12 km in 1.5 h. How far did he run on the rough terrain? Subtract 2 from the number of kilometres he ran on rough terrain to
get A.

B: Determine the equation of the circle that is centred at (0, 0) and passes through point (4, 0). Subtract sixteen from the radius squared to get B.

C: Expand and simplify -2(-2x + 5)(3x + 4). Take the number in front of x^2 and divide it by 2.5 to Get C. Please round to the nearest whole number.

D: Determine the X coordinate of the vertex from the equation y = x^ 2 + 7x + 12. Add 12.5 to the X coordinate to get D.

E: Determine the coordinates of the vertex of this relation, y = x^ 2 - 10x + 24. Take the x coordinate and then subtract two from it to get E.

F: Use the given information to determine the equation of the quadratic relation in vertex form. Vertex at (3, 2), passes through (1,4). Take the value for 'a' and multiply it by two to get F.

G: Determine the Y coordinate of the vertex for the
following Quadratic relation, y = 0.2x 2 - 0.4x + 1. Take the Y coordinate of the vertex and multiply it by ten to get G.

H: Maria needs to load cars onto a transport truck. She is planning to drive up a ramp, onto the truck bed. The truck bed is 1.5 m high, and the maximum angle of the slope of the ramp is 35° How far is the rear of the truck from the point where the ramp touches the ground? Round your answer to one decimal place. Take this answer and add
3.9 to it to get H.

J: Determine the number of solutions to this
equation, -3.5x^2 - 2.1x - 1 = 0. The number of solutions equals J.

K: In triangle ABC angle B=31degrees, b= 22 cm, and c= 12 cm. Determine angle C. Subtract 9 from angle C to Get K.

The terrain for the final is not that bad and can be reached after a short climb. Please be careful with the tree during both your climb and descend. Please put this cache back just as you have found it so that other cachers can enjoy this one too.

Enjoy and I hope you can get your credit!
