Geocache Description:

I really tossed around several cache names here before settling on "Rat Rod". They ranged from "Grandpa Walton Took a Joy Ride" to "Bootleg'n" to "Jiffy Lube" to "Looking for a Moonshine Still". This area in general is known to be an area of suspicion by the 'Revenuers' during the days of prohibition. Located in White Lake WMA. When you arrive at the first field, you may proceed either left or right following the edges of the fields. I've provided a trailhead waypoint for each to get you into the woods. Either will work. You're going to encounter some high grass at times. The hike gets better once you reach the wood line. Here you'll find the blazed trail system. It's a challenge to follow at times, but you'll get there. Interesting features to be found whichever you choose.

As an alternate, there is a parking area off Sunset Lake Road. The trails can also be accessed from there. This may be a less aggressive approach, not sure. Let me know.

This just in: It's been told with credibility that the "Rat Pack" was known to frequent the late Hardwick House. It had a reputation of having been "connected" in its day.

I meant to note that GPS accuracy is not so good here. I had three different GZ's on three trips, three different seasons. I picked what I thought was the most accurate. You'll recognize GZ, trust me!

Exercise reasonable care at GZ during your search and be mindful of hidden hazards. Please replace container securely as found. Thank you!

This WMA is popular with the hunters. Don't dress like a deer (wear your orange).

Please don't post any pictures at GZ for now please. Let's keep it a surprise and keep everyone wondering.
