This traditional cache is the first in a series of new 2011 San Juan Island caches that celebrate the 4th of July. This cache is located outside the Town of Friday Harbor near the island cemeteries where many island founders and veterans are laid to rest.

This traditional cache is the first in a series of new 2011 San Juan Island caches that celebrate the 4th of July. This cache is located outside the Town of Friday Harbor near the island cemeteries where many island founders and veterans are laid to rest.
The cache is located outside of the cemeteries but caution and tact should still be observed as it is a well trodden place for islanders and visitors alike.
There is a picturesque little chapel on the Protestant side of the cemetery where some weddings and funerals are still held in the summertime. On Memorial Day and during the 4th of July weekend, the cemeteries are decorated in patriotic flags in honor of those who served our country in war and peace.
