Geocache Description:

Once part of the Nugent's Estate and now managed by The National Trust, this gentle walk is through a mature wood of mixed broad leaved trees. Visitors will enjoy spectacular views across the Strangford Narrows, towards Audleys Castle and Castleward. Nugent's Wood is home to Red Squirrels, badgers and has an impressive display of spring flowers such as bluebells, stitchwort and honey suckle.

This walk is a linear type with 2 caches, this one and Basil Fawlty at Nugent's Wood #1. The cache is a regular camo'd snap loc container containing a log, pen, FTF prize and lots of swapsies.

The slope up the walk is a gradual one, then it levels out. It is well cut grass making this a very plesant stroll. The name of this cache relates to the state of clue item - we are both Fawlty Towers fans.

To enter the wood, walk parallel with the road, towards the inside of the peninsula, but on the field side of the fence, walking away from the Queens University Marine Science building. On your right hand side you will pass a boarded up white bungalow. Continue along the bottom of the field keeping to the fence, and you will see the National Trust sign ahead. Do not worry about walking on private property - it is a National Trust walk, so all is fine.

For more information about the walk, please see Walk NI.

There is an abundance of street side and off street parking nearby.

The cache container is a small camo'd snap lock container containing a log book, pencil and some swaps. There is room for a couple of travel bugs and/or geocoins, too.

Placed with the kind permission of the National Trust Warden - thank you!
