Located on the grounds of the Old Daphne United Methodist Church, now used to house the Daphne Museum.
Plenty of parking and shaded picnic benches.
The church, built in 1858 is one of only two remaining antebellum churches and is the second oldest church building in Baldwin County. It was constructed from heart pine logs with handmade wooden pegs. The interior features the original pews, random-width floorboards, and a slave gallery, which had its own side door entrance.
In the cemetery, grave markers date from 1847 and include two brothers killed in the last two weeks of the Civil War at Spanish Fort, four casualties from the ironclad Osage, and slaves Becky Ann and Snake.
If you have time, visit the museum or stroll through and explore the cemetery to remember how Daphne once was.
Museum hours Fri., Sat., Sun 1-4
Cache is available 24 hours, though nearby homes might be on neighborhood watch.
Congratulations to Bermudian for the FTF and to Clue Club for a co-FTF.
