Geocache Description:

The Gill Township School was organized in 1893 and was originally located across the road from where a new building was built in 1898 where it is now. In its early years children would walk, ride a horse, or take a horse and buggy to school. The school taught eight grades and there was one teacher. The school continued to be in use until 1951 when students then went to either Wheatland or Chaffee Schools.

The school is now used for Gill Township officer meetings. There is currently a committee working to restore the school. The cache container is a small peanut butter jar hidden a short distance east of the building. It contains a logbook, a pen, and small items to trade. There is a gold dollar coin for the FTF. There is some long grass next to the cache. Long pants are not absolutely necessary, but I would at least recommend bugspray. Happy caching!
