Geocache Description:

The cache is placed approximate 2/3rds up a 'koppie' (hill) overlooking the Buffels River, Golf course and town of Laingsburg. It is hard to believe that this calm winter river (mostly dry during the summer months) overflowed it's banks and flooded the town during the summer in January of 1981. The present day Golf course used to be rows of houses. The lanes of trees between the fairways are the only remains, marking where the streets used to be in this neighbourhood before the disaster of 1981.

Visit the nearby Tourist Information and the Vloed Museum (Flood Museum) for more information. It is best to do the walk from the N1 side and park at the end of the tar road, where the Moordenaars Karoo gravel road starts. The cache is approximate 5min walk from here. This gravel road also continues for almost 100km into the Moordenaars Karoo.
For safety on the loose rock 'koppie' it is advised the cache is not visited after dark.
The cache is a white plastic container of approximately 10cm in lenght. A logbook and small trade items are provided. Please bring your own pen.

WELL DONE, Hesamati FTF!
As noted by Hesamati, interesting rock formations on the 'koppie' for those who are interested.
