This is the first geocache in a series at the location of the old Blake homestead.
This Geocache is located in Kisatchie National Forest. The location is at the old Blake homestead. The women at the ranger office told me about this place and said it would make a nice place for a cache. So naturally I decided to take a ride and see what it was like. The road up to the site is maintained by the national Forest Service, but if it has been raining lately you might want to walk up to the site. It is about 3/4 of a mile from the main road to the cache. It had rained the day before and there was standing water in 4-5 places and my 2 wheel drive truck made it up all right. A car definitely would not have. If you drive to the top, stop at the beginning of the horse trail. Vehicles are not allowed on the horse trail. This will be the only spot for you to turn around. From here it is a short walk to the cache, but there is some undergrowth, so protection from the elements will be necessary. If you are going for all three caches in this area this will be the second cache along the way. The distance of the hike will be dependent on where you park. If you can make it all the way up to the start of the horse trail then you will walk about 1 mile to get all three caches. If you have to park at the bottom of the hill, it will be about a 2.5 mile hike to get all three. You will be looking for an ammo can.
