Geocache Description:

We have been watching the proliferation of solar panels popping up all around the Trenton area lately and we have wondered what brought this on.
We thought that these installations would be an interesting focus for a series of caches.
Note that none of these caches are located on the solar panels themselves as these are private property as well as delicate and expensive.

This innovation seems to have been spurred on by a creative program by the Ontario Power Authority called the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) or the Micro Feed-In Tariff (microFIT) programs. (visit link)

This program guarantees a high rate for electricity generated by renewable energy in the order of 80 cents per kWh guaranteed for 20 years for a roof top installation.

The program is targeted at non-commercial applicants to encourage small installations distributed throughout Ontario there by limiting distribution losses. There are also incentives for using domestic content in the production of the solar panels, domestic labour and mounting hardware.

This seems to be a profitable enterprise that many people are taking advantage of and solar panels are popping up all over the place.

At this location you are looking for a small container with room for log and pencil.
