This is one of the Ashton cache's as we try to fill in Ashton Under lyne on the geo map
swing bridge nice picnic area, you can get to this one by car bike boat or foot look out for muggles they come from all ways
Please let us know if we got the Difficulty right and the terrain right we are newbees
We only started this great sport weeks ago and tried out the local casche's we got about 50%, dont worry we will be back, whatever happens find or no find we had a great time, seen stuff we never knew was there in our own back yard.
I come from engineering background and Helen nuresing, wow there's so much here I know about that other's could see where we go walking so we came up with Ashton old and new I must say I like the old over the new.
(Ashton Old dive in) Ashton old baths stand's on its own now all around it stands the new and it does look like a tranformer, kids point of view but no where to put a cache so made one, well this is where old ashton town center started marking the LEY of the land to the east the sun can be seen setting as you walk from the center of Ashton under LYNE and riseing from MossLEY cross where it is said the LEY lines cross, ok now its the M62 but this was once the high way crossing over the hills
(Ashton OLd smokey) Junction Mill Chimney, all thats left now flats to one side and the canals to the other, the river below. The canal system spilts into 3 at Portland basion to Stalybrige, Droylsden and crossing over the river in to Dukinfield. This Junction is where the mill takes its name.
Portland Basin, this is a great place with just so much to see the museum cannot be missed, but take a look at the mariner tucked away on the other side of the canal, it has a working drydock and nice people too.
(Ashton old and new) is not Ashton but Dukinfield, as the river makes the boundary, 1845 iron brige could not take the test of time rebuilt in 1978 with concrete, look's almost new from underneath the old iron work still in place keeps it looking good even if she has had a face lift.
(Ashton old swinger) swing bridge nice picnic area, and great to see the bridge working, now this is not Ashton but just one of the back doors into Ashton
we hope to take you down the canal to Manchester and off to Mossley real soon.
