I am a very big Harry Potter fan and have been inspired to create a series of caches dedicated to the great series of books by J.K Rowling and the Warner Brother’s films. In preparation for the last movie to be released, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: part 2, I have hidden 7 caches, dedicating them as horcruxes.
A horcrux is a very powerful object (from the books) in which a dark wizard or witch has hidden a fragment of his or her soul for the purpose of attaining immortality. Creating a single horcrux allows one to gain the ability to resurrect themselves if their body is destroyed, however creating multiple horcruxes allows them to gain near immortality. When a wizard/witch makes a Horcrux, the mutilation of his soul causes him to become less human. The more Horcruxes he or she creates, the less human he or she becomes. Now I am no evil witch, but I did hide 7 geocaches in several areas that mean something personal to me.
This cache is located in the rear of the parking lot just on the edge of Saint Joseph's University. Turn onto 54th street then turn left again at the Cosi and park. WARNING...this IS a CACHE and DASH. meaning, don't park for an extended period of time or you may get ticketed. Stealth will be the most important factor in this cache as well. This maybe easier in the summertime and more specifically in the evening or on the weekends due to less muggles. You are looking for a small rubbermaid container with a red screwtop. It is obvious in its location, its making the grab that will be tricky. good luck.
This is where the most recent chapter of my life leaves off. I am almost finished with my Master’s in Criminal Justice and being a Hawk (Hawk/RavenClaw... get it?) has meant so much to me. It is an accomplishment to go through graduate school, paying for it on your own (by taking out loans), and working a full time job at the same time. Not complaining, but honestly proud of myself for knowing I can do it and that I still have time for fun and geocaching.
Please replace the cache as found. thanks. :)
History of Horcrux 5 - Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem:
Lord Voldemort created his fifth Horcrux using Hogwarts co-founder Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem. The spell needed to create the Horcrux was cast after Voldemort murdered an Albanian peasant. The diadem is introduced by name in Deathly Hallows, but actually first appeared in The Half-Blood Prince, described as "a tarnished tiara" in the Room of Requirement. Ravenclaw's daughter Helena, also known as The Grey Lady of Ravenclaw, stole the diadem from her mother in an attempt to become more intelligent than she. She fled to Albania where she hid the diadem in the hollow of a tree when the Bloody Baron attempted to search for her. After Helena was murdered by the Bloody Baron, she became the Ravenclaw house ghost and Tom Riddle, while a student at the school, charmed the Lady into telling him the location of the diadem. Shortly after leaving Hogwarts and after the subsequent murder of Hepzibah Smith where Riddle stole Slytherin's Locket and Hufflepuff's cup from her, he travelled to Albania and took possession of the artifact while planning his rise to power. Years later, when Voldemort returned to Hogwarts and reapplied for the Defence Against the Dark Arts position and was denied the job by Albus Dumbledore, he hid the diadem (now a Horcrux) in the Room of Requirement. Because Voldemort believed himself the only one to have discovered the Room, he never placed curses around the diadem.
In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry first comes into contact with the diadem when he hastily hides Severus Snape's old potions book in the Room of Requirement, right after he used an invented spell from the book on Draco Malfoy called "Sectumsempra". The diadem was only mentioned as an "old discoloured tiara" in the sixth book; Harry used it to help mark the spot so he could later find where he placed the book. Later, after having the diadem described to him by the Ravenclaw ghost, Harry recalls this scene and hurries to retrieve it from the Room. The diadem was unintentionally destroyed by a Fiendfyre spell cast by Vincent Crabbe as he, Gregory Goyle, and Draco Malfoy attacked Harry, Ron, and Hermione within the Room. Crabbe died in the resulting fire.
CONGRATS to 'NO CEILING' FOR BEING THE FTF! :)
