Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden in traditional manner and should be found with relative ease. Please note that there is both a river and stream close by so care should be taken to observe younger children. The woodland walk is suitable for those in wheel chair. However, the cache is off the wooded walk way away will not be accessible to those in wheelchairs. The new replacement cache is a nano cache.

This cache is now the starting point for a series of caches that have been placed in our hoem village to celebrate the birthday of our son ValleyBoy.

The community of Seven Sisters (or Blaendulais in welsh) was formed around the opening of a coal mine of the same name in 1875. Named by the co-owner Evan-Evans in respect of his one son and seven daughters. At its peak in 1945 the colliery employed over 759 men from the surrounding area. Although Seven Sisters Colliery closed in May 1963, there are still many active opencasts mines in operation
today.
The woodland walk was opened in 2009 by the Ynysdawley Playing Fields association. The walk follows the River Dulais that runs through the centre of the village. This area has seen the greatest transformation in recent years. The nearby park is the biggest (and newest) in the village and the golf range is a testament to how tourism is now a major part of the community.

If you are completing the series on foot leave the park via the main entrance and cross the road. You are a short distance from the next cache.

The original traditional cache has been replaced by a nano due to its disappearance.

Congratulations to PlasmaWave for being the first to complete the 7S series (1-10).
Congratulations to AeronAndArchie for being FTF the original cache.
Finally, Congratulations to BeckettBrood for being FTF the nano cache.
