One of the loveliest spots on the River Tiddy - part of the beautiful Lynher estuary, which meets up with the Tamar further down and goes on to form Plymouth Sound.
This cache lies on a footpath along the river, between two no-through-roads in the lovely village of St Germans (pub and church both well worth a visit). You can park at either end of the footpath, as long as you stay on the public road and don't block any entrances. St Germans Quay is public, although the number of signs put up by the sailing club might have you thinking otherwise. The walk is easier from Quay Lane and doesn't get too muddy even after rain.
Do follow the grassy track a few more paces to the fence by the river and enjoy the view - downstream you get a great view of the viaduct and the boats moored by the quay; upstream is a scene of perfect pastoral tranquility.
The GPS signal is pretty awful under the trees, so don't be too perfectionist - use the clue! The cache is a 250ml round plastic container painted black. It contains a logbook, pencil and a couple of swaps for the youngsters. There is room for most trackables.
