This is a regional recycling center created and supported by a number of environmentally minded groups as well as the City of Montevallo and the Chamber of Commerce. In addition they have partnered with Bibb County to take their recyclables. It is located at a former Alabama Power Company staging center. There are large bins for miscellaneous paper, #1 plastics, #2 plastics, aluminum, and cardboard. They continue to get grants for compression machinery to bale all these products to take to major venues in order to reprocess the materials. Ironically, this cache container wouldn't be able to be recycled as it made of #5 plastic. It is a small container with only enough room for the log, small trackables, and a few small items. There are several spots to hide this so the hint will definitely expedite your search. Be sure to cover it back up to keep some well-meaning muggle from trying to recycle it. ***3/25/20 Note: Due to chronic illegal nighttime dumping at this recycle center they have fenced the area off and now have restricted hours of 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday. The area where the cache is hidden will only be available during these hours. ***5/10/22 - The area where the container was located is not available for search. The Recycling Center is now Single Stream so all materials go in one compacter and are sent to Montgomery for sorting. I have moved the original #5 container (now actually able to be recycled) to a new spot outside the fence so it is available 24/7. There is a parking pad by the Recycling Center sign on Spring Creek Rd.
