Geocache Description:

Mini cache in a secret garden in Bournville!

** This is temporarily a nano **

When George Cadbury arrived in Birmingham, he not only built a chocolate factory, but a whole range of sport, leisure, cultural and religious facilities for his workers. He wanted to create a place that was good for both working and living in.

He built parks for both the men and the women who worked at his factory, both made for activities thought to be suitable for their gender.

The men's park was placed just next to the Cadbury Factory and took the form of a playing field. The park is still there today, and is well-used for football/cricket and the annual Bournville Fair, in addition to being on the walking route to Cadbury World.

The women's park is also still there, but it is virtually forgotten. Whilst the male park was made for playing sport, the female park was built for leisurely strolls, with a pond, trees, and winding paths. It's not on the way to anywhere, and is usually (sadly) deserted.

We hope that by placing this cache here, more people will find their way to one of Birmingham's hidden gems.

The park is open 24/7 and usually deserted, so a nice easy place to look. CCTV overlooks the pond from the end of the park, but the cache area isn't on camera - you don't have to stray from the path much to get to it.
