Geocache Description:

S láskavým dovolením a požehnaním autora (boyt) rovnomennej bratislavskej série
vznikla
martinská mladšia sestra.

SK:

Starostlivo som si tieto fotografie vystrihovala a potom som nad nimi sedela s mojím starým otcom a nechala si od neho rozprávat: „...tu sme chodievali do školy, tadeto do obchodu, tuto býval ten a tuto onen...“.

Ponorme sa teda spolu do histórie Martina, nájdime miesta zo starých fotografií, porovnajme ich so súcasným stavom a – samozrejme – nájdime poklady skryté nedaleko.

EN:
These cache series were founded with kind permission and blessing of boyt – the owner of the original series of the same name in Bratislava.

The citizens of Martin maybe recall the old pictures of the town which were published piecemeal in the local newspapers in 1997.

The column bore a name „Do you remember...?“
I cut them out carefully, showed them to my grandfather and let him recount: “... used to attend this school and walk this way to the grocery, here lived one and here another one...” It was very interesting to imagine all those old houses, parks and narrow paths at the places where the modern edifices are located nowadays.
A few years later a thematic calendar was brought out.
Today the virtual communication offers new opportunities and a lot of these photographs can be found at internet, too.
Many streets and buildings in the pictures belong already to the past. It is surely unnecessary to build modern roadways and houses but not always to the prejudice of the historic architecture. Sometimes I feel even nostalgic for the former town appearance.

Well, let us immerse in foretime of Martin, find the places from the old photographs, compare them with present state and – of course – find the caches hidden nearby.

Note: All the stages and finals are placed at very crowded areas, near historically important places and buildings, at the heart of the town or close to the schools. Please, be as inconspicuous as possible while searching for the coordinates and caches and logging - so the series survives.
