There are many things happening on this day of September 11,
2011. First and foremost, it is the tenth anniversary of the
tragedy in New York. So if you would like to bring a US Flag with
stand, we will place them around the pavilion.
Second, this will be my last official act as President of SLAGA.
I will hand over the SLAGA Gavel to the new President of SLAGA at
this picnic. We hope everyone will attend and welcome the new
officers that you elected for the year 2012.
Third, we also celebrate SLAGA's ten year anniversary by having
a special trackable Geocoin minted for this occasion. This Geocoin
was designed by Crowesfeat30 and will be FREE to every Premium
member of SLAGA as of July 1st, 2011. The 1.75 inch coin features
artwork of all four seasons surrounding a new SLAGA Pathtag. On the
reverse side it has overlays of the pathtag logo surrounding an
eight point compass rose. It also has the words "St. Louis Area
Geocaching Association" "Ten Years of Fellowship and Fun"
"2001-2011". If you have an individual membership, you will receive
1 Ten Year Geocoin. If you have a family membership, you will
receive 2 Ten Year Geocoins.
Fourth, Cliff Cave has a 5 mile bike trail through one of the
most mosquito-infested flood plains in the county. We are planning
on placing a Geocaching power trail around this 5 mile loop. We
will have our 2 bikes to loan out, but if you have some bikes of
your own, we suggest you bring them. We won't have time for a
bingo, poker run, or auction because everyone will be on the power
trail.
Fifth, SLAGA is giving the cooks and the chefs a rest at this
picnic because we are having the meat catered by one of the most
popular Bar-B-Que caterers in the county. The caterer is preparing
12oz. pork steaks and ball park franks for us and they will be
ready by 1:00pm. The cost is only $5.00 for each adult and $2.00
for each child under 12 years of age. We ask
everyone to bring a vegetable, covered dish, or dessert and tell us
how many pork steaks and franks your family needs so we are sure to
have enough for everyone.
Immediately after we eat, we will announce the new officers so
everyone can go hit the power trail. SLAGA will also provide the
ten GPS units, to be checked out by any member, to assist in the
fun. We hope everyone comes out and enjoys this great annual event
that SLAGA hosts every year.
