Geocache Description:

Wellstead area opened up in the late 1950s and early 1960s when conditional purchase blocks were allocated to people. Together with the early settlers in the area, they developed a real community, building the hall, the original school, tennis courts and a church.
The hall was widely used for dances, musical and dramatic evenings and sporting get-togethers. Today it looks a little sad, needing some TLC, despite the fact that the town site has grown, with several permanent “townie” houses, a busy store and agency, and a very modern Telecentre. Open farmlands surround the town site and it is also here that you turn off to Cape Riche, a lovely coastal area with white beaches and its own camping grounds.
Enjoy peace of the region. Please replace the cache carefully. You will need your own pen. Have fun!
