$2.00 bill for FTF! Wanted this one Handicachable! Watch out for muggles - they abound and multiply. LOL! Please replace better than found.
The landing was here before the town of Metaline Falls was platted, providing access from the Metaline Mining Camp to the mining claims on this side of the river.
Before the railroad reached Metaline Falls in the fall of 1910, all of the supplies for this growing town - came through Carr's Landing.
Look at the Washington Hotel - built to house the workers laying the track for the Idaho & Washington Northern Railroad (which terminated in Metaline Falls) - and note that it was built in 1906.
Take the time - and note how steep this embankment is - and try to imagine how it was before the dam back up the water.
PS. When the river was frozen sometimes people tried to drive across - not always successfully - do you suppose- if you were a scuba diver - would you find some interesting remnants - or has the river washed away all mementos?
