Geocache Description:

This cache will introduce you to Tacoma's latest wetlands restoration project, kal'-ka-lukw-al-kwo' (Place of Circling Waters), opened to the public in mid-July of 2011)

A paved driveway leads to this area that's seen much restoration efforts during the first half of 2011 in an effort to stabilize the hillside and restore adjacent wetlands. Besides the usual wetlands landscape, there is a second unusual attraction behind the fence just north of the cache. Most active during the summer, it's worth observing, but heed the signs!
The cache itself should be an easy smiley for you and an opportunity for a little wetlands education as well. A sign near the cache explains the reason for establishing wetlands and some of the wildlife/vegetation to be found here.

Parking is available in the dedicated lot adjacent to the main road, made expressly for those visiting the wetlands. The gate is open from dawn to dusk, and patrolled by Port of Tacoma Security.

The container was changed on 8/31/13 to something less conspicuous. Hopefully it will go unnoticed longer.

Congratulations DJ'sTrek, Cableboy, 2nd1of3, & GeoLMP for the combined FTF.
