Geocache Description:

This is a two stage multi cache that starts you off at at the Fort Piper Monument and takes you on a 3.5 mile drive with a little history lesson wrapped all in one.

For the first stage of this cache, take a moment and enjoy the Fort Piper Monument. Please note that the township does have hours posted for visitors. Do not visit between 10pm and 6am.

While at the monument, answer the following questions to get your waypoints to the cache. Here are the missing numbers in the waypoints for the second stage.

N 40 05.AB9
W 078 1C.DE6

Answers questions A thru E to get your missing numbers.
A. How many LARGE STONE flags are on the monument?
B. How many armed forces round emblems are on the center Hopewell Township stone?
C. What is the last digit in the year this monument was built?
D. How many metal flag poles are behind the monument?
E. On the bottom right corner is a US Marine Corp emblem...to the immediate left is a picture/portrait. How many men are in JUST THIS picture?

Answer those questions correctly and you have your coordinates for the cache. It is approximately a 3.5 mile drive down a country road. I will give you some brief trivia tid bits for all you history buffs out there. I'm not sure how your GPS will take you from the monument to the cache, but I will give directions and let me be your tour guide. When leaving the monument, turn left onto Rt. 26. Immediately, you will see Colonel John Drive on your right. Turn onto that road. John Pipers grave is to your left up on the hillside. The property is owned by a local farmer. Turn left onto West Cypher Road. At the interesting triangle stop, go to your left. Follow road to stop sign, turn right onto East Cypher Road/State Route 1020. Shortly before you reach the cache location, you will have to make a sharp right turn. At this turn, there is an old grocery store on your left (no longer in business). I've been told that a sweet little old lady ran this store. You are also crossing an old railroad track at this location. Right across the road from the store was the old train station. Just a short piece down the road you will find the cache container. Pull off onto Rose Beach Road to make the find. It's a simple find. This cache is more about history than a challenge. After visiting the cache, please take a moment and drive a little ways down this road. You will see an old railroad bridge. This track carried the Broad Top Railroad to towns such as Tatesville, Bedford, Broad Top and Bralliers Station. I would have liked to hide the cache near the bridge, but this is a very high flood area so I chose a safer spot. Hope you enjoyed your little drive in the country. And as always, Happy Caching. The hint is to help you check your numbers for second stage.

The cache is a plastic peanut butter container. I'm starting it off with lots of swag and a TB that I got while caching in Gettysburg. Happy Caching!!!!

CONGRATS TO KB3PPS AND KB3PPR ON FTF!!!
