Famed anthropologist Domingo Martínez Parédez ( 1904–1984 ), is credited with bringing knowledge of Hunab Ku to light in 1953, further describing the Deity in his book, "Hunab Kú: Síntesis del pensamiento filosófico maya".
According to legend, Hunab Ku was the first Deity who represented Maya monotheism. This belief system is characterized by a passage in Chilam, in which a follower of Hunab Ku tells a suplicant "In Lak'ech," which translates to "You are my other I."
Hunab Ku is the Deity that scholars believe directly contradicts the Maya end of the world myth regarding December 21st, 2012, as His name translates to "Being with No End".
Hunab Ku is visually represented by a spiral/radial design with what appear to be traditional Maya structures, done in black and white.
Disclaimer:
Do not approach this series lightly. If this were only a 500' bushwhack, I would call it hellish. The roots will trip you, the branches will shred you and poke your eyes, and the insects will consume you. But it's not 500'. It's over 12 bloody miles! I highly recommend you bring snake boots, lots of water, long pants, long sleeve shirt, lots of water, good hat, pokey stick, lots of water, spare everything, bug spray, lots of water, writing utensils, cell phone, lots of water.
Did I mention bring lots of water?
