First cache we have placed on our trip in Turkey in 2011. Just 200
meters up the hill from the parking place with nice view of the
villages on (and in) the rocks. Be careful and bring the hat and
sunglasses - it was 45 Celsius (113F) when we have been there.
You can park here: N37°09.555' E41°23.521' On the way from Iraqi
area from Sirnak heading to Mardin and Nemrut Dagi we have taken
the diversion from the main road following the "tourist interest"
brown signpost to DerMorArgen Manastiri and Derharap Kilisesi.It
was definitely worth it. We have discovered beautiful area with the
villages on and in the rocks of the mountains totally free of any
tourists. Place is not in any of the tourist guides I know of and
information on the internet is very scarce. Therefore we have
decided it might be worth seeing for the others. If you have the
time - you can take the road to the other village in the mountains
as well (go first left on the way back to the main road). Cache is
small plastic waterproof lunchbox with English explanation,
logbook, pen and beautiful GeoCoin as a present for the first.
Small note on cache maintenance: There is a local
cache guardian. Name and contact info on file with
geocaching.com.
