Tea Quotes and Poems - Words of Wisdom:

Tea of Tranquility by Joanna DeRungs

In the stillness of the morning,
Or a busy afternoon,
A warm cup of tranquility
Could not have come too soon.

I wait for silent laughter
To settle on my shores.
The rippling of its waters
As it opens all my pores.

The calmness in the quiet,
To sit with tea in hand.
The magic of just slowing down
Is washed upon the sand.

Drinking in the goodness,
The taste, as well as warmth.
How long since I have been here?
A week; perhaps a month.

It only takes a moment.
Why did I wait so long?
We needn't let it pass us,
Until the storm's too strong.

Brew a cup of tea right now,
And see if it's not true;
The water in the teacup
Pours tranquility into you.

"There is no trouble so great or grave that cannot be much diminished by a nice cup of tea." ~Bernard-Paul Heroux

"Each cup of tea represents an imaginary voyage." ~Catherine Douzel

"Enjoy life sip by sip not gulp by gulp." ~The Minister of Leaves

"Tea does our fancy aid, Repress those vapours which the head invade And keeps that palace of the soul serene." ~Edmund Waller, "Of Tea"

A Cup of Tranquility
Japanese Tea Ceremony

It is called "The Way of Tea." Sado or Chado, Japanese tea ceremony, is a study of preparing, serving, and drinking green tea, yet it is so much more. Dating back to the 6th century, Sado came to Japan as a ritual of Buddhist meditation. It is hoped that the tranquility one experiences in the teahouse will carry over into everyday life.
