Geocache Description:

Watching for horse-drawn vehicles is normal here in south-central Indiana. We have a large Amish community. In fact there are three districts of Amish folks here. Districts are geographical divisions used for organizing church and leadership with each District being led by a Bishop, which is an older, well-respected Amish man from that District. Each District will contain at least 100 people.

The Amish are an example of community efforts and mutual-reliance. They depend on one another for help with family and farming. But the Amish in this area are also very friendly and welcoming to us 'English' people, as they call us. Many of the Amish families run small businesses from their farms: fruit & vegetable stands, wood shops, leather shops and even general stores. This series of caches will take you to see some of these farms and businesses. The caches will be placed at a respectable distance from each farm and you won't have to enter any property or business to log a cache. But coordinates are given to each farm in case you care to visit.

This cache is near an Amish family who makes quilts and who runs a small general store with bulk foods. They also have a small lumber yard. The waypoint coordinates will take you there if you choose to go. Just follow the long driveway. There is another family nearby who has a Tack Shop.
