You may recall in the film "Wall Street," Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) proclaims that "Greed is good." We disagree, and argue instead that "Green is good."
All 5,000+ acres belonging to Kittatinny Valley State Park were purchased with Green Acres funding, which means New Jersey's tax-paying citizens are to be commended for helping create this beautiful park. Part of KVSP, the Sussex Branch Trail and Paulinskill Valley Trail are former railroads that have been converted for use as multiple use trails. Both railroads were critical to the development of Sussex County through the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The wide cinder surface is ideal for walking, running, mountain biking, and horseback riding. When snow conditions are abundant, these trails provide and excellent opportunity for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. You might even see a musher and his dogsled team running down the trail!
The park is open sunrise to sunset. Be sure to stop by the KVSP Visitor Center (open 9 am - 4:30 pm) located off Goodale Road for more information about the park and its free activities! I hope you enjoy the time you spend geocaching here, and visit again with friends and family.
***CONGRATULATIONS to tandemstoker for being the FTF!!!***
