Geocache Description:

This is our first hide. Decided to do this for C's (Chloe's) 5th birthday so there is a treat for the first to find.

This short walk from parking at N 51 49.432, W 002 24.720 by a public house.

The walk to this cache starts off on road taking you past the church out onto a public footpath across fields. Pushchair and bike access is limited due to gates and stiles.

The cache is a traditional container with plenty of swaps inside for children. We have now added 3 further caches to turn this into a mini series taking you towards the river and returning to the village. Overall it is around 3km taking about 30-60 mins.

From the cache you can view the church spire. This is of particular interest to many as it is separate from the actual church. Being originally built in 1270 as a garrison or watch tower to guard the severn the spire was added later in the 14th century. The spire is built entirely of wood and contains six bells, the heaviest peal in Gloucestershire. The bells have not rung for years and funding has recently been granted which will enable them to ring again. Hopefully some time in 2012.

If you continue along the footpath you can reach the river Severn (and may be able to view the famous Severn Bore) further along the river you can follow the footpaths up onto Garden cliff for it's great views.

We live locally so will visit regularly to maintain.

Please bear in mind that as these are public foot paths running through fiends so they may contain electric fences or cattle, so please take care when walking through.
