Floating Island Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wizard of Ooze: Hello 7forHeaven,

I've just received notice of the comments posted by the Skagit Land Trust today regarding their ownership of the property adjacent to your cache:
Skagit Land Trust owns the northern side of Sumner Lake, where the described access point is located. We would like to provide you with some background information on this unique property, to let you know why we are not currently developing this site for public use.
As they own the property and have not provided permission for your geocache at that location, I am archiving your cache to respect their property rights and prevent further ecological damage to the site.

Please remove your cache from the island at an appropriate time to minimize any additional disturbance of the native plants and ground surface.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,

Geocache Description:

When I first saw this particular Island I was unaware of just how unique it really is. I know of no other like it. It looks like an Island with thirty foot trees growing on it, the interesting part is that it moves around the lake depending on which way the wind is blowing. The Island moves around the lake so the cords will only get you to the center of the lake. Find the floating Island and locate the only pine tree on the Island. The cache is a 30 cal ammo can located at the base of that tree. Most of the time the Island hangs out at the south end of the pond but I have seen it in other locations as well. There are plenty of places to anchor a vessel but be careful of where you step some of the areas are a little unstable. There is no boat launch and all water vessels must be carried in about 300ft from parking cords.
Happy Hunting
