On August 9, 2005, just four days before her 1st birthday, our beautiful daughter Courtney was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She was immediately airlifted to the Children's Hospital of Iowa at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City where she spent the next several weeks. A biopsy revealed she had "neuroblastoma," an aggressive pediatric cancer with a low cure rate. Over the course of the following eight months, Courtney fought this disease bravely, enduring numerous surgeries and approx. 10 rounds of intense chemotherapy. Through it all, she always seemed to maintain her happy smile and sweet, joyful spirit. Amazing little girl! Tragically, Courtney lost her battle with this horrible disease on April 2, 2006 at just nineteen months old. As a tribute to honor and remember our precious, brave little girl, we decided to build a large children's playground in her memory. We loved the idea of creating something positive and beautiful that would bring much joy and laughter into the lives of other children for years to come. This very cool play structure is open to the public. It is located on the grounds of Emmaus Bible College, where my husband and I met and married. This cache is placed with permission from the college, and is very easy to access from the road. Parking is available at N 42 30.508 W 90 42.428 Cache contains a log book, small pen, and FTF mini geocoin for the first to find. After you discover the cache, please replace everything just as you found it. And take a moment to appreciate the people who mean the most to you! Life is short.
