Geocache Description:

This monument honors Peoria's role in the historic Underground Railroad movement and commemorates the historic Pettengil Home Site. The cache is a magnetic nano and does not require any climbing on the sculpture.

From the 1840's to 1860'st the Moses and Lucy Pettengil House at the corner of Liberty and Jefferson was a safe house for hunted slaves escaping North along the Underground Railroad. The Sculpture is a combination of three primary materials. Granite, Bronze and Stainless steel, none of which the magnetic nano will be attracted to. PAC Member
