Cattus Island Fishen Box Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

tneigel: Thanks to all for finding this cache. Time to retire the cache and make room for another to place a cache. Special thanks to Highpointer for removing the cache.
It seems the highpointer didn't locate the travel bug (Black Belt). I hope it turns up somewhere.

Geocache Description:

TIME TO RETIRE THIS CACHE. CAN THE NEXT CACHER PLEASE REMOVE THE CACHE AND LET ME KNOW. SPREAD THE CONTENTS OUT TO OTHER CACHES. THANKS TO ALL! Read about the salt marshes and the Osprey success story. Cache (4x6x3) is chuck full of freshwater fishing stuff, like hooks, line, etc.

I've added three optional side trips for the adventurer in you.

Start your journey from the visitors center. Go inside, look around, and see the arial view of the park. You will be walking out to the point. The trail roadway starts in back of the visitors center. You are on your way.

As you get close to the cache, I have a side trip (#1) for you. Down at the end of the road, nearing the cache, continue on down the beach to N 39.59.656 - W 74.06.867. See if you can go any further, and let us know. My toes were hanging over.

Now, back-to the correct path to the cache. As you go "in," over the boardwalk and approach the cache coordinates, there is a Y junction. You may take the cache now, and also see how much of an adventurer you are by taking the following short adventures. Or do the cache after the following adventures.

Side trip 2: At that Y junction, take the left fork and see if you can tough it out to N 39.59.533 - W 74.06.822. Can you see where you were on Side trip 1? Maybe you can get further? Let us know.

Side trip 3: At that Y junction, take the right fork (a bit soggy-got your boots, especially during the spring). Can you make it to N 39° 59.352 - W 74° 06.820. What's your report? What happened?

Oh, yes, cache is in a usual hiding place, completely covered. Cover well when done. Don't look at the hint unless you really, really have to. It should only take you a minute to find it. PS: Hold the GPS up high to get some good readings.

The park is so beautiful. Try the red trail or other trails while you are there.
