Deer Park Island (MA) Traditional Cache
dolemite9: Many apologies to those who have trekked out to GZ only to spot a big fat DNF. As well as for the lack of a being able to get our original maintenance plan once envisioned to actually work. The nature of the hide, coupled with the nature of the sea, appear to make this initial hide not able to work practically as is. Will archive in the hope that someone may find a better use if this location for a future hide. And many big thanks to phild31 for their help keeping this one alive this long. Hope everyone who trekked out there enjoyed the journey.

Cache is a small camoed bison tube, anchored down to prevent wash
away (this is a beach area!). Head out for a walk along the
coastline either direction before/after the hunt. Assuming the
weather is cooperating, this is a pretty nice little spot to get
away to.... Note that the cache is OUTSIDE park boundaries.
Searching for this cache will bring you to a beautiful Deer Park
Island. You will be surrounded by stunning views on all sides,
including the Boston skyline off in the distance. Deer 'Island' is
a 210 acre peninsula ringed by national park that is part of the
Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. The park here
includes a nice walking/bike trail ~2.6 miles long. You can even
fish around here (though see note below about supposed 'treatment
plant' and associated effluent discharge)!
The island has a long history, including some colorful events
during the 17th century. But the modern claim to fame of the island
is the half dozen 'eggs' that can be seen from Boston as one looks
off into the coastal distance. The facility is supposedly a sewage
treatment plant, though I have a suspicion there may be something
else (potentially sinister) going on there. Such as zombie
manufacture, large-scale cloning, or possibly even some sort of
super-solider program. Let your imagination decide what you think!
From an aesthetic point of view, the nearby wind turbines add a
nice touch I think.
