The Cache is located at one of the entrances to the trail system at Mine Kill State Park. It is 0.75 miles from here to the NY Power Authority Visitor's Center Parking Lot. This trail is marked with aqua colored paint and is part of the Long Path Trail. The Long Path starts near New York City and heads north through the Catskills. There are a total of 8 miles of hiking trails at Mine Kill State Park, some with scenic views of the lower reservoir and the Minekill falls.
The cache is a 35mm film canister. There is no need to leave the mowed area and look in the tall weeds and brush adjacent to the trail. Parking could be at N42 26.271; W074 27.535. There is a $3 entry fee to the park during the summer season. You could also park at the Park Office or at the contact station and walk into the park without paying the fee. Park hours are 7:30am through 8:00pm during the summer months. Parking could also be at the N42 26.875; W074 27.868 at the NY Power Authority Visitor's Center. There is no fee to park there. Minekill Park Permit #6.
