Geocache Description:

This cache is in honor of a beloved priest that served in the Silver Springs area over the last decade. This should be a fairly quick puzzle cache starting at a church and ending in a cemetery with fairly flat terrain. Container is a micro. There is no need to disturb any of the grave markers and as always in cemeteries, no night caching.

Fr. John Heigl, M. Afr. had a very interesting life that took him all the way to Africa and back. He was born in Buffalo where he also attended High School and Junior College. He was ordained in Carthage, Tunisia, Africa and when onto serve in Africa for over 35 years. He was fluent in Swahili and led Missionaries of Africa in Kenya and Tanzania. He even drove Mother Teresa around as she searched for a place to build a new Convent. He also travelled to Rome where he met Pope John Paul II. I would always enjoy listening to Fr. John as he would tell his many stories of his time in Africa and the hardships he saw while he was there. It definitely takes a special kind of person to move so far from home for so many years and serve others. Fr. John also seemed to really enjoy his time serving in the Silver Springs area since 1999. He was a great man who was very relatable and is greatly missed.
The first location is where Fr. John served for the last decade plus of his life. At this location you will find a sign with two times on it. Take the last two digits in the time for the second day listed and subtract that number from the north coordinates. To calculate the west coordinates you will have to use that same time, but in this way:
Second # minus 1 = A
First # plus 1 = B
Second # plus 1 = C
W 078° 05.ABC
The final location will be nearby, but there are many, many possibilities for the cache to be located. Once you have located the second stage, you will need to find the following information:
Fr. John Heigl, M.Afr. was the ABth Pastor of St. Mary’s.
Subtract A from the north coordinates and subtract B from the west coordinates to locate the final.
