Thanks To Another Max Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Yurt: Finally got the small hand of the geoboy along to retrieve the cache and indeed the bison tube is gone along with part of the camo. By all the sticks and stones around the cache it looks like kiddies have set up a play area here so I will archive this one for now.
Thanks for the 8 favourite points! You can take them back now if you like.
Another cache will appear within 1km shortly.

Geocache Description:

A micro cache in a popular park in the heart of Westleigh.

Westleigh was built on a sandstone ridge west of Thornleigh, thus the name, in the 1970s. The centrepiece of this community is Ruddock Park, named for the then local member, Max Ruddock.

Ruddock first entered politics when he stood for and was elected as a Councillor of Hornsby Shire Council in 1954. He was elected from a single term as Deputy Shire President from December 1955 to December 1956. As a Councillor in 1959, his 16-year-old son, Philip, alerted Ruddock to a legal impediment to the State Government's desire to make the suburb of Westleigh an industrial area, thereby resulting in the preservation of the residential nature of Westleigh. Ruddock later rose to be Shire President from December 1960 to December 1961.

Ruddock went on to a career in state politics as the member for The Hills. He lived to see his son, the current federal member for Berowra, elected to the federal seat of Parramatta but died soon after leaving office in 1976.

There is a Max Ruddock Park named after him in Winston Hills. This park is also named in his honour. The residents of Westleigh can thank him for his vision.

Ruddock Park has a couple of mini soccer fields, tennis courts, a playground, toilets, a kids' bike path and even a legal graffiti wall. Something for everyone.

This cache is a micro which goes a little against the grain but the potential for muggling of a larger cache is too high here and at least it's not a mint tin.
